To beat Iseult, keep the camera wide and prioritize finding safe floor over maintaining a combo. Move out of marked ground, let her relocation finish, clear only the soldiers that obstruct movement, and attack after a lunge, slam, or hiding sequence has clearly ended.

Iseult is the Act 2 boss. Defeating her awards Witch Hunter and unlocks Ruadh Stonecrusher on the current standard build.

Quick Iseult strategy

  1. Enter with enough health to survive one missed ground cue.
  2. Keep moving space between the hero and the arena edge.
  3. When Iseult disappears or jumps away, stop attacking and locate her.
  4. Leave marked or erupting ground before starting another action.
  5. Dodge lunges and projectiles rather than holding Block.
  6. Use a short punish after she lands or completes a close sequence.
  7. Remove nearby soldiers only when they obscure her or close the escape lane.

Read her movement first

Iseult can disengage, hide, or cross the arena quickly. The dangerous moment is often not the disappearance itself but the player’s decision to keep attacking the last known position.

When she relocates:

  • release target fixation and widen the camera;
  • move toward open ground rather than the nearest enemy;
  • listen and watch for the new approach;
  • keep Dodge available until she is visible again;
  • resume damage only after the next action resolves.

Escape ground attacks immediately

At higher Threat, Erupting Earth adds flaming eruptions to the arena. Ground danger takes priority over the boss health bar. Finish the movement first, then decide whether there is time to punish.

Avoid repeated Dodges in random directions. A single controlled movement toward visible empty floor leaves the next Dodge ready for Iseult’s follow-up. If soldiers fill that lane, use a quick crowd command or change direction before the marker resolves.

Deal with hiding and bomb pressure

During a hiding sequence, do not swing blindly into the crowd. The fight provides ways to pressure Iseult while she is hidden, but survival comes first: keep the arena visible, avoid incoming projectiles, and use the objects or opportunities the sequence presents only when the route to them is clear.

After the hidden phase ends, expect an immediate return to normal attacks. Do not spend every defensive resource just before she reappears.

Safe damage windows

The most dependable openings occur after:

  • a missed lunge carries her beyond the hero;
  • a slam or ground swipe finishes without catching you;
  • a jump or relocation ends and her next position is confirmed;
  • the hiding sequence concludes;
  • the boss becomes visibly staggered.

Use short strings. Iseult can leave faster than a long finisher completes, turning the recovery into a free hit for her or the surrounding soldiers.

Reinforcements and battalion control

The arena can refill with dagger and shield-bearing troops. Clear the enemies nearest the hero, but do not chase the last soldier across the arena while Iseult is off-screen.

Good command uses include:

  • opening a path through a dense group;
  • keeping shielded troops away during a boss opening;
  • covering a co-op revive;
  • adding damage after Iseult has committed to another target.

If the army is collapsing before Iseult reaches her later phase, the problem may have started on the Act 2 route. Choose recovery or a shorter path on the next attempt rather than relying on the boss arena to repair an exhausted battalion.

Emblem and hero advice

Favor effects that remain useful while repositioning: Dodge triggers, quick Strike effects, passive defense, or crowd control. A payoff that requires a long stationary sequence is harder to activate safely in this fight.

Wallace: keep a defensive answer ready after every short string. Do not hold guard through large lunges or projectiles.

Brienne: use movement to maintain control, not to remain permanently attached to the boss. Reset when Iseult disappears.

Ruadh is the reward for winning this fight on the current build, so he is normally available for later campaigns and Harold rather than the first Iseult clear.

Co-op strategy

Spread into different safe lanes without placing players on opposite sides of a hazardous center. One player should track Iseult while another clears only the reinforcements threatening the group. When she relocates, call the new position before everyone commits to attacks.

Do not revive inside marked ground. Pull Iseult away, clear the closest soldiers, and begin the revive only when another player can intercept her next approach.

Ruadh did not unlock

Let the results and post-battle transition complete, return to the village, and reopen hero selection. If Ruadh is still locked, restart the game and confirm that Steam is on the current standard branch rather than an older optional branch.

The Ruadh unlock troubleshooting guide covers file verification, co-op progression problems, and the exact logs to attach to a report.

Common mistakes

  • Attacking the position where Iseult used to be.
  • Holding Block against a lunge or projectile that breaks the guard.
  • Finishing a combo while standing in a ground marker.
  • Chasing reinforcements until the boss is off-camera.
  • Spending every Dodge during the hiding sequence.
  • Starting a co-op revive before pulling Iseult away.
